On June 24, at a meeting in Brussels the European Council decided for further enlargement of the European Union – on July 1, 2013 Croatia should become the 28th members of the EU.  In December the final document on the admission of Croatia to the EU is expected to be signed but before this the decision of the European Council should be approved by the parliament of each of the member states.

In mid June Alan Greenspan, former Federal Reserve chairman, said a default by Greece is “almost certain” and could help drive the US economy into recession.

Greenspan’s loud statement on Greece may be a “sound curtain” to prepare the global community to a default by the US.

An expected outgrowth of the world's steady descent into total and extreme capitalist control is the increasing tendency by some historians and their accomplices in the media to re-invent certain aspects of history.

Although the history of the Middle East and colonialism have been favorite playgrounds for the historical revisionists, it is World War II and the role played by the Soviet Union in the war that has attracted the attention of most of the alterers of history, both professional and amateur.

PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA DMITRY MEDVEDEV: Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen,

I want to welcome you all to the St Petersburg Economic Forum. In particular, I want to thank my colleagues, the leaders of other countries, who have come to our beautiful city.

A Western journalist boorishly asked Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, former head of Russia's Kalmykia and acting president of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) who was giving a press conference in the wake of a tour of Libya, whether he had asked for NATO permit to cross into the country. Asking the media man if parents or anyone else had taught him the ill manners would have been a legitimate, though undiplomatic response, but Ilyumzhinov chose to reply with his ordinary politeness and simply explained that FIDE president had no reasons to notify NATO or any other group of his travel plans. Skipping the portion of the event that could spiral into debates, Ilyumzhinov conveyed the clear message that the Libyan leadership was open to immediate talks with NATO and the Benghazi rebels.

In mid May the president of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan A.A. Zardari visited Russia. Probably this visit will define the development of the Russian-Pakistani future in the near future and the development of political processes in South Asia and the nearby territories.

Chancellor Angela Merkel`s cabinet has addressed Germany`s car makers to increase production 400 times by the year 2021.

As of the 1st of January, 2011, Germany car makers had produced 42.4 million cars, 30.5 million of which had internal combustion engines, 11.3 milion units were diesel-powered cars, 400,000 were LNG vehicles, 71,500 cars were powered by natural gas, 37,000 were hybrid cars, while only 2,300 were electric cars, or so-called 'electromobiles'.

The arrest in Serbia of former Bosnian Serb army commander, legendary Gen. R. Mladic and the statement on the illegitimacy of Gadhafi’s rule in Libya issued collectively at the G8 summit in Deauville combine neatly within the same paradigm: in a unipolar world, as long as it continues to exist, leaders of the countries outside of the top league are not entitled to independent policies.
