The report, delivered by acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan, contained a number of key points which he also outlined at the 18th International Conference on Regional Security “Shangri-La Dialogue” in Singapore. According to observers, the Pentagon report has become the first official military strategy of the kind for the region. What are the guidelines of the US military strategy in the context of Washington’s general policy in one of the most strategically important regions of the world?

Georgy Chicherin is one of Russia's outstanding diplomats. As Commissar for Foreign Affairs in the Soviet government, he made a significant diplomatic contribution to bringing our country out of international isolation. It is also important to note that Georgy Chicherin took part in the preparation of the first issues of the journal “International Affairs”. Streets, schools, libraries are named after him, as well as an orphan home located in the village “Karaul” in the Tambov region, which is regularly visited by representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Serbia was visited on June 3 by the first man of Russian Duma and one of the closest associates of the Russian President Vladimir Putin. The arrival of Vyacheslav Volodin in Belgrade just a few days after the brutal intrusion of Albanian special forces in the north of Kosovo and amid strong pressure on Serbia ahead of the announced meetings in Paris in early July, sends a clear message. That message could be heard at a special session of the Serbian National Assembly: “Brotherly Serbian people, as always, can count on Russia's help!”

According to a new report from the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), Cyber Nuclear Weapons Study Group, US nuclear weapons can’t be effectively protected against cyberattacks with technical means alone. "Any system containing a digital component, including nuclear weapons, is vulnerable to cyber threats," Page Stoutland, NTI’s vice president for scientific and technical affairs, said.
On May 30, President Vladimir Putin submitted to parliament a bill on suspending the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate and Shorter-Range Missiles (INF). With Washington having failed to respond to Moscow’s proposals to resolve existing differences concerning the treaty, Russia has been forced to respond to President Donald Trump’s February 1 announcement about the start of the US exit from the 1987 accord. How dangerous is Washington’s irresponsible behavior to global strategic stability?
Once a Free Trade Zone between Lisbon and Vladivostok, the vision of an economic or even political unification of Russia and the European Union is far away from today’s reality. Organizing the first EU-Russia Student Conference, two Austrians studying in Moscow are trying to improve the relationship between the EU and Russia with unusual means. On June 14th and 15th, 80 students will gather in Moscow to present their ideas on so-called “business cases” to eminent representatives of Austria’s and Russia’s worlds of economics and finance.
The race for President of the European Commission has got under way. According to the rules which are questioned by many in the European Union but have so far enjoyed majority support in the European Parliament, the new head of the “executive branch” of the European Union will be elected from among the “top candidates” (Spitzenkandidat) - those nominated by European parties which have factions in the European Parliament. A candidate will finally become President of the European Commission after he receives support from EU leaders in the European Council (the Council is currently headed by former Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, known for his paranoic attitude towards Russia) – this procedure should be over in June.
