Museumweek international action launches

#MuseumWeek international action starts on May, 13. It is launched for the sixth time.  Galleries, archives, libraries, museums, cultural centers around the world and in Russia join the action that will continue until May, 19. Organisers are sure that unique international event will attract more people to visit museums. #MuseumWeek is a great chance to share cultural experiences, share this experience online.

Action participants will put online posts on themes proposed by event organisers. 

Action to take part in the form “7 days – 7 topics – 7 hashtags”. The topic is to be changed each day. Particular role of women in cultural development is the major topic this year. Museums will present stories about women who have changed the world, and who played  particular role in contemporary art. 

Hashtag #MuseumWeek, and thematic hashtags #WomenInCulture, #SecretsMW, #PlayMW, #RainbowMW, #ExploreMW, #PhotoMW и #FriendsMW have to be used.

Apart of this, museums will demonstrate to users the museums' “backstage”. People will see how the museum staff takes care after showpieces, prepares exhibitions, and many other things.

Project is to become additional stimulus for creating fresh cultural content. It contributes to popularisation of new names and their promotion on international level, attracting new audience. 

More than 5 thousand cultural institutions from 120 countries took part in the project last year. This time these numbers will definitely increase.
