On November 22, 2018 the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow opened a comprehensive exhibition of Estonian art ‘Border Poetics. Estonian art 1918–2018’ to coincide with the centenary of the Republic of Estonia. A collaboration between KUMU Art Museum and the State Tretyakov Gallery, the show presents a cross-section of Estonian art of the last century – over 100 works that include paintings, graphic works, photography and installation.
The star-sprinkled blue onion domes peppering the peaceful rural landscape, cozy wooden houses along a winding street and the beautiful Russian fortress of Alexandrovsky Kremlin are staring at you from the canvases showcased at Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Center to the Embassy of India in Russia in Moscow, hosting the exhibition “Temples of Spirit: India and Russia” till the end of November.
From 27 to 30 September 2018 Vienna's Marx Halle, a former industrial space of the 19th century in the south-eastern part of the city, hosted Viennacontemporary art fair with 118 galleries from 27 countries profiling more than 400 artists. Upon completion, it was announced that with over 30,000 visitors the fair was able to surpass last year's figures. Viennacontemporary is often labelled as a fair with a Russian accent, meaning that the art forum tends to get numerous guests from Russia and CIS countries; also since 2012 70% of the fair shares belong to the Russian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dmitry Aksenov.
Long before over a hundred artists, architects, scientists, researchers and philosophers from many countries sailed to the Antarctic for the First Antarctic Biennale of Contemporary Art on the Russian research ship Akademik Vavilov in 2017, its ideologist and commissar, the artist Alexander Ponomarev had realized projects best described as grandiose on different continents and at different latitudes. It is only natural that Ponomarev has long been referred to as the most seafaring artist not only because his colourful submarines have for years been surfacing here and there — in the Barents Sea, the Grand Canal of Venice, the Louvre, the Loire River and the Museum of Monaco, to name a few – but also because he served as a submariner after graduating from the Odessa Naval School and before embarking on the career of a contemporary artist.
This summer, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art celebrates its 10th anniversary. Today the museum is a symbol of changes in Moscow’s cultural life and a landmark on the international map of contemporary art. But there were many stages on this way – from opening of the Center of Contemporary Art (the initial title of the future museum) in 2008 in the former building of Bakhmetyevsky bus garage that had given the name to museum, to moving to its first permanent home in Gorky Park, in 2015.
Designed to give American students new insights into the country today, the Politics & Public Diplomacy in Contemporary Russia program at Moscow International University explores regional developments and conflicts, economic and political reforms, the role of mass media in society, and new cultural phenomena shaping Russian society. Through readings, lectures, seminars, and discussions conducted with faculty of Moscow International University and beyond, program participants gain a fuller understanding of the complex factors that have shaped the country’s evolution since 1990-s.

I’d like to attract attention of the honorable readers to the issue of the activities with the purpose of spreading of Russian language in India. It looks especially urgent in the light of some quite important and memorable dates commemorated  these days: the 50-th anniversary of the RussianCulturalCenter and the Center of Russian Research at JawaharlalNehru  University  open in 1950 inNew Delhi. Thereby the process of studying of the language and culture of our country turned ordered and systematic, though there were enthusiasts now generally called "russianists” that had appeared among the  Indians much earlier. It is known that it was the first Russian General Consul in India, Baron Vassily O. Von Klemm  (1861-1938) who contributed  greatly for the visits of civil servants of different levels to Russia to study Russian language considering it one of the key tasks of the activity of the Russian diplomatic mission in Bombay.

The presentation of a collection of poetry “The Hour of Courage” composed from verses by the poets of Donets Basin took place in Moscow on the eve of the Day of Russian Language commemorated in Russia every year. The book was compiled and edited by the Foundation “Russian World”. The presentation for journalists held in the INA “Russia Today” was attended by the chairman of the Parliament committee for education, the chairman of the directors’ board of the foundation “Russian World”, Vyacheslav Nikonov and the authors of the verses from the collection: Vladislav Russanov, Marina Berejneva, Anna Reviakina, Valadimir Skobtsov, Svetlana Maximova. With them was Yuri Yurchenko, one more outstanding poet who read his verses. 

“Never in my life there has been any experience to meet, in any nation, a person, who might so ardently and passionately love his motherland, as Griboedov loved Russia”, - Faddey Bulgarin spoke of his friend, whose activities enormously influenced the development of the Russian culture. Later on the author of immortal comedy “The Mischief of Being Clever” will say: “The more educated a person is, the more useful he is to his motherland”.  Precisely the ardent patriotic feeling for Russia went with Aleksandr Sergueevich Griboedov during all the dynamic and turbulent life of “one of the most intelligent persons of Russia” of the nineteenth century, as it was expressed by A.S. Pushkin.

On March 26, 1944, after the battles, which had been conducted at the territory of the Central and Western Ukraine, the red Army approached theriverofPrut, State border between theUSSRandRomania. A multimedia exhibition: “Crimes of Nazism. The liberation mission of the Red Army inEurope”, organized be the Russian Military Historical Society, is dedicated to this unforgettable date in the history of the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition is based on documentary evidences regarding terrible, dramatic and heroic events of the war.
