Born on April 4, 1954 in Moscow.

Since May 1976 he worked in the USSR State Television and Radio.

From 1983 to 1990 – Editor-in-chief of radio broadcasting to Great Britain and Ireland of the International Moscow Radio.

Since 1987 he has been a correspondent of the USSR State Television in London.

From 1990 to 1992 – General Director of the Astra association of RTRK Ostankino (TV broadcasting, world Service in Russian and English).

From 1992 to 1994 – Head of the International Moscow Radio.

From April 1993 to October 23, 2008 – Chairman of the Russian State Broadcasting Company "Voice of Russia".

Since February 17, 2009 – Editor-in-chief of the magazine "International Life", freelance adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Author and presenter of the information and analytical program "Vis-à-vis with the world" ("Voice of Russia", at various times broadcast on TVC, Zvezda, Radio of Russia, Mayak).

Member of the Union of Writers of Russia. Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation. Member of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy. Member of the Academy of Informatization (Associate member of the UN), member of the Eurasian Television and Radio Academy, member of the NAT Radio Academy (National Association of Broadcasters), corresponding member of the Academy of Management.

From 2003 to 2006 – Member of the Federal Competition Commission for licensing of TV and radio frequencies. In the period from 1996 to 2006, at various times: member of the Administrative Council of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU Geneva), member of the EBU Radio Committee; expert of the Council of Europe on media issues.

Author of several TV and documentary films on the topic of history and cultural history (1st TV channel). Author of a number of articles in the Russian and foreign press on foreign policy and mass media (Nezavisimaya Gazeta, Argumenty i Fakty, Vremya Novosti. «Times», «Guardian», «Le Monde Diplomatique».

Author of the multimedia project "Radio Encyclopedia – "Russia from A to Z".

In different years, the winner of the awards "Golden Pen of Russia", "Best Media Manager", "National NAT Award".
