1622 – Attack on Indians at Jamestown.

The overthrow of Arbenz is followed by four decades of military terror and civil war claiming the lives of an estimated 140,000 people.. A truce in the civil war is signed only in 1996.

1954 - Iran: as part of Operation Ajax, the CIA and British intelligence organize the overthrow of Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh. Subsequently, during the reign of Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, Iran becomes the Unites States’ main ally in the Middle East.

1956 - start of military assistance to the Tibetan rebels in the fight against China.

1957-1958 - an attempt to unseat the government of Indonesia.

According to the Americans, they were unable to distinguish between an Iranian airliner and a military plane and to establish contact with the pilots. At the same time, the US cruiser was in the Iranian territorial waters as part of Operation Earnest Will. The captain of the USS Vincennes received an award.
