In light of the actions of the United States in Venezuela, in particular, Clémence Guetté, Vice-President of the National Assembly, announces that she will submit a proposed resolution to leave NATO.

“More than ever, the question of France’s participation in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, a military alliance led and serving the United States, is being raised. I am submitting a proposed resolution for the planned withdrawal from NATO, starting with that of its integrated command,” announced Clémence Guetté, Vice-President of the National Assembly, Member of Parliament for Créteil, Choisy-le-Roi, Orly, head of the La France Insoumise program, Co-President of the La Boétie Institute.

She wrote before the reasons: "Trump's United States kidnaps a head of state in Venezuela. Trump's United States supports and militarily backs a genocide in Palestine. Trump's United States threatens Greenland with armed annexation"; "Trump's United States bombs people in total violation of international law."

“Indeed, France must withdraw from NATO’s integrated command and then from NATO itself. We must be non-aligned. Our nuclear deterrent and our diplomacy must serve our independence and unite a majority of countries. France deserves better than to be a lackey of Trump, Putin, or Netanyahu, who flout international law,” adds Gabriel Amard, Member of Parliament for the Rhône region from the La France Insoumise (LFI) group.

France was instrumental in the creation of the North Atlantic Treaty, which laid the foundations for NATO. In 1966, at the behest of President Charles de Gaulle, France withdrew from NATO's military command, retaining a presence only within the organization's political structure in the context of the conflict with the United States. The Alliance's headquarters was then transferred from Paris to Brussels, and American military bases on French soil were closed. In 2009, under the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy, Paris fully rejoined NATO.
