The most important thing in this story is that the boomerang of British colonialism has returned to the Island! People from former English colonies have now come to Britain after centuries of oppression and abuse at the hands of British colonial authorities. There are many of them, those who moved to Britain from former colonies. And they want revenge! They want more than just a good education. They now want power in Britain. In the grand scheme of things, the British Empire has spawned its own gravediggers!
The new generation of Britons will not eat pork and will only eat halal meat. First, pork was banned in thousands of British schools, and now it's also banned in universities, writes Rupert Lowe Britush MP.
The Pakistani rector of Newcastle University, Imtiaz Dharker, is turning the university into a madrassa. She has stopped serving pork to students and has offered only halal meat. The university has opened five prayer rooms, the main one in the King George IV building.
“Dear Vice-Chancellor,
I am writing to urge you to reverse the decision to serve only halal chicken, beef, and lamb across
Newcastle University’s catering outlets.
This is Britain. Our students should not be forced to eat meat prepared according to one religious code. They deserve a proper choice.
The evidence is clear, as it states on your own website.
“All meals and grab-and-go food containing meats allowed within a Halal diet (beef, chicken and lamb), produced by the University’s Hospitality team, is Halal certified.”
Plenty of people do not want halal meat, whether for cultural, ethical, or animal welfare reasons.
Many of your students do not want to eat halal meat - likely a big majority.
It is entirely wrong to impose it on the entire student body. Universities should not be in the business of enforcing religious dietary standards on everyone.
The answer is straightforward: restore non-halal options immediately, clearly label what is halal and what is not, and let people choose for themselves.
It is time to stop pandering and start providing basic, common sense choice for all students.
I look forward to your response.
Yours sincerely,
Rupert Lowe MP”
Opposing the imposition of halal meat is about far more than just the brutal method of slaughter. It’s about the principle of it.
The creeping normalisation of decisions being made for us, without our consent, to appease a Muslim minority at the expense of the majority, writes Rupert Lowe MP.
But what we are seeing, increasingly, is everyone being given no choice but to eat it – in universities like Newcastle, in schools and many other institutions across the country. Our children are being fed halal meat without even telling the parents. It is morally repugnant.
It says to British people: your preferences, your culture, your traditions – they do not matter.
You will eat what you are given, whether you like it or not, because someone, somewhere, has decided it is simpler or more ‘inclusive’ to force everyone to comply with one set of rules.
This is the same pattern we see across so much of public life. British traditions, customs, and ways of life are pushed aside quietly. One at a time, but relentlessly all the same.
This will keep happening until one day we wake up and realise that nothing familiar remains at all, Rupert Lowe confesses.
