Despite sanctions, Russia became the # 1 in Europe economy on the list of the World Bank

The World Bank has updated its GDP estimate for the countries of the world at the end of 2022.

According to the data of the WB, Russia is among the five largest economies in the world in PPP – Purchasing power parity.

Russia became the first country in Europe on this list, ahead of Germany.

The GDP figures presented are based on official country data published by the World Bank and the IMF, in terms of purchasing power parity.

The data are adjusted using estimates of the world economy for outdated base years of GDP and estimates of informal economic activity, the WB clarifies.

The World Bank rating is based on a comparison of the Purchasing power parity (PPP) of each country.
