Philip. 1:1-7; Lk. 4:37-44

“I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.” [Lk.4:43]. This reminder, “for therefore am 1 sent”, ought to be a supreme unalterable law for our clergy. And the Apostle Paul gives them the same bequest through Timothy: “be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort” [2Tim. 4:2].

The Lord with His Holy Spirit has brought the truth to the earth and filled with it, on the Day of the Pentecost, His Apostles, — and since then the truth is walking on earth, heralded through the mouth of God’s priests. Whosoever among them stops his own mouth, he also stops the truth which is seeking its way into the souls of the faithful. Because of that, these souls are suffering without truth; and the priests could be likewise tormented by the truth which has no release and burdens them.

Remove this burden from your soul, О priest of God! let the Word of God flow freely out of your mouth, unto the revival of your flock, entrusted to you, and unto the benefit for yourself. And if you see that you are falling short of the truth, go and get it: it is in the Holy Scriptures. Take it, fill yourself with the truth, convey it further down to your spiritual children, — do not stay silent. Preach it. for therefore thou art called.
