The “Make Europe Great Again” (MEGA) conference, held this week in Brussels, announced the formation of a new European alliance dedicated to defending Western civilisation in coordination with the American MAGA movement, ‘EU Today’ reports.
This group of prominent European political leaders intends to challenge the perceived erosion of European culture by aligning their efforts with their partners in the United States.
The conference of this new European alliance was held in Brussels on February 2nd, headed by the longtime leader of the Vlaams Belang (Flemish Interest) party, Filip Dewinter. He greeted the participants and outlined the concerns shared by European patriots: massive hostile immigration, the ongoing efforts of EU leaders to undermine President Trump’s initiatives to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, the growing economic crisis, and the escalation of tensions in the Middle East. His message was clear: “We love Europe and therefore we despise the EU. The future of Europe lies in national states and not in liberal globalism.”
Dewinter’s sentiments were echoed by notable figures, including the UK protest leader Tommy Robinson; former U.S. Congressman and head of the “Foundation for Western Civilization,” Steve King; U.S. Congressman Brian Babin; Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from the AfD, Irmhild Boßdorf; the head of the Czech PRO party, Jindřich Rajchl; the president of the Romanian AUR, George Simion; and Enrique Ravello, president of AAESA from Spain.
The Belgian colleagues of Filip Dewinter who participated included Sam van Rooy, MEP Barbara Bonte, NATO Parliamentary Assembly member Johan Deckmyn, MP Frederic Erens, and Senator Anke Van Dermeersch.
The future of Europe and Western civilisation
The growing concern regarding the future of Europe and Western civilisation has been articulated numerous times by President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance. The conference identified a critical two-fold menace: aggressive immigration, described as an occupation of Europe, and a “canceling” anti-culture that facilitates a “terrible replacement.”
This alarming message from MAGA leaders was reinforced by Congressmen Steve King and Brian Babin. Both delivered powerful messages regarding the European crisis and the necessity for a European MEGA movement to join efforts with U.S. colleagues to combat the liberal erosion and Islamist occupation that threaten the future of humanity. They both called upon their European partners to form an effective alliance to save civilization.
While several attempts have been made in the past to build a foundation for such cooperation with President Trump’s team without success, this is viewed as the first promising and realistic effort to assemble a prominent leadership group to lead European patriots on a common ideological ground with MAGA.
Starmer, Macron, and Merz were largely blamed by leading speakers for the current “bloody deadlock”
The issue of the “Islamization of Europe” was linked to the destructive war in Ukraine, which will reach the end of its fourth year this February. Speakers argued that the significant efforts of President Trump to end the war have been repeatedly jeopardized by Keir Starmer, Emmanuel Macron, and Friedrich Merz. Participants consistently criticized EU leaders, specifically Ursula von der Leyen, for their counterproductive attitude toward the conflict. They argued that while Europe needs to be strengthened by the further integration of Russians, Ukrainians, and Belarusians alongside other countries of Eastern Europe. Buy the war causes a shift toward the disintegration of Europe, deepening the political and economic crisis.
NATO Parliamentary Assembly member Johan Deckmyn, detailed the security challenges presented by the Middle East crisis and subsequent mass immigration to Europe.
He argued these are direct threats to Europe’s future that justify an increase in defense and security budgets. However, he maintained this would not be enough; Europe must help stop the war in Ukraine and halt current military spending on the war. He warned that current “blind policies” might lead Europe to a situation similar to modern South Africa, where he claimed the white population faces brutal discrimination and genocidal attacks.
The Romanian statesman George Simion, who argued he was unjustly marginalised during his country’s presidential election, focused on the ongoing bloodshed in Ukraine and the faults of current European leaders in leaving the conflict unresolved. Representing a nation close to the war zone, Simion brought the concerns of his people to the MEGA conference. Starmer, Macron, and Merz were largely blamed by Simion and other leading speakers for the current “bloody deadlock.”
Significant importance was placed on the fact that this peace message regarding the Ukraine war originated from right-wing patriots in Brussels—the current centre of the EU where immigration and escalation decisions are made. It is symbolic that this alternative position to the policies of von der Leyen emerged from the Belgian capital. This new voice was supported by representatives from Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Romania, Czechia, and Hungary.
The conference marks the beginning of MEGA in Europe, and further steps are expected be announced soon to join MAGA.
