Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s telephone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

On July 18, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The parties coordinated their approaches toward the situation in the Persian Gulf zone amid ongoing exchanges of strikes between the United States and Iran. Both sides stressed the importance of an immediate cessation of hostilities and an early resumption of the negotiation process. They also emphasised the need for maintaining stable, unhindered and safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which is of key importance to the global economy.

The ministers also considered further strengthening of the Russian-Emirati strategic partnership, including an expansion of trade, economic, educational and sports ties. They reaffirmed their mutual interest in continuing close foreign policy coordination both bilaterally and on various international platforms.
