Press release on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abbas Araghchi:

On February 20, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Abbas Araghchi at the Iranian side’s initiative.

The ministers exchanged views on the current situation with the Iranian nuclear programme, including with due regard for the outcome of the indirect US-Iranian contacts held in Geneva. Sergey Lavrov reaffirmed Russia’s support for the negotiation process aimed at finding equitable political and diplomatic solutions based on respect for Iran’s legitimate rights, in accordance with the principles of the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

The sides also discussed several bilateral issues of mutual interest.
