Reply by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova to a media question regarding another attack by the Kiev regime on Russian energy facilities.

Question: According to the Russian Defence Ministry, on the morning of March 28, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) launched a double strike using HIMARS multiple-launch rocket systems, as preliminarily assessed, against the Sudzha gas metering station. How would you comment on this?

Maria Zakharova: We are aware of this report. There is reason to believe that the targeting and guidance for these strikes were conducted via French satellite systems, while the input of coordinates and launch procedures were managed by British specialists. The command was issued from London. A week earlier, on March 21, this facility was already subjected to a terrorist attack by the Kiev regime, which ordered its militants to destroy it during their retreat from the Kursk Region. Now, following the missile strike, the Sudzha gas metering station has been practically obliterated.

On March 28, 2025, nineteen Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles attempting to attack the Saratov Oil Refinery in the Saratov Region were shot down and intercepted by Russian air defence systems.

These are far from the first acts of terror perpetrated by the AFU against Russia’s energy infrastructure following the March 18, 2025 prohibition on strikes against such facilities. Attacks have targeted gas industry enterprises, electrical substations, and oil storage depots, including those operated by the international Caspian Pipeline Consortium, in the Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod Regions, Crimea, and the Krasnodar Territory.

The terror unleashed by the Kiev regime against Russian energy infrastructure serves as further proof of its unreliability in adhering to agreements. As is well known, Vladimir Zelensky publicly endorsed the moratorium proposed by the Presidents of Russia and the United States on refraining from strikes against Russian and Ukrainian energy facilities, yet he has taken no steps to uphold it.

These developments confirm that Kiev possesses no political will for peace. Its leadership continues to operate within a paradigm of war, remains intent on escalating the conflict, and is prepared to resort to any provocation to obstruct efforts aimed at achieving a definitive resolution to the Ukrainian crisis.
