Rom. 14:9-18; Mt. 12:14-16,22-30
“He that is not with Me is against Me; and he that gathereth not with Me scattereth abroad' [Mt. 12:30]. So. who is with the Lord? Those are with Him who live and behave in His Spirit, those who permit themselves no thoughts, neither affections, nor desires, nor intentions, nor words or actions contrary to God’s will, contrary to His commandments and discipline.
Those who live and behave differently are not with the Lord; it means that they do not gather but scatter. What do they scatter? Not only their time and energy, but anything they might have gathered. For instance, a rich man who makes money for money’s sake and does not spend it on helping others and even on himself, or who wastes it on luxury, on proud endowments and bequests, is not gathering with God. In the future life such people will emerge empty-handed and will be the poorest of the poor. On the other hand, those who transfer their money through the hands of the poor and needy into eternal depositary, indeed gather with the Lord. When such a man dies, in the heaven he will find his assets carefully kept, even though he was spending them profusely throughout his whole life.
The same reasoning, even more clearly, applies to the gathering of knowledge: even now it is quite obvious that mountains of stuff gathered by some modem wizards is nothing but trash with no relation to the truth. Not only such people gain no knowledge; they loose whatever common sense they might have had, becoming delirious, like lunatics. Just read a couple of books by modem materialists and you will certainly agree.
