Are you 25-35 years old? Young and ambitious? Interested in politics or social work? A specialist in media, culture, science or sports? If this sounds like you, the "New Generation" program offers you a unique opportunity to participate in one of Russia’s youth programs, implemented by Rossotrudnichestvo. It’s not only the opportunity to visit and discover Russia, but also to establish professional contact and build long-term partnerships with Russian governmental and non-governmental structures, youth and public organizations.

What is the “New Generation” program?

It’s a leading Russian youth presidental program held annually by Rossotrudnichestvo since 2011. It seeks to create conditions for sustainable dialogue between young professionals from Russia and other countries.

Within the program, young representatives of political and public organizations, science, culture, and media from abroad take part in a range of events in Russia, from training sessions and expert discussions to sports and cultural activities.

Over the last nine years, more than 7,000 young professionals from more than 130 countries of the world visited Russia.

Each year, 1,000 young leaders take part in the “New Generation” program. Among them are people of 25-35 years old and of various professions: politicians, scientists, diplomats, journalists, social activists and many others.

In 2019, Rossotrudnichestvo set an absolute record welcoming 35 foreign delegations from 110 countries. Among its partners were MIA Rossiya Segodnya, Russia Beyond multimedia publication, the Russian Geographical Society, the Roscongress Foundation, the State Duma and the Federation Council, the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky (TsAGI), Russian Rafting Federation, the National Research Center Kurchatov Institute, the Center for the Development of Cultural Initiatives, the Public Youth Movement of the Pskov Region "Youth League of the Pskov Region", Russian Parliamentary European Club, and BRICS Youth Energy Agency. The delegates of the program also got a chance to attend a number of events with the participation of the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The delegates of the “New Generation” program visited 15 Russian cities last year (Moscow, Samara, St. Petersburg, Stavropol, Sevastopol, Sudak, Pskov, Svetlogorsk, Kaluga, Kaliningrad, Irkutsk, Barnaul, Nizhny Novgorod, Ivanovo, Volgograd) and took part in a range of events, such as: SputnikPro CIS and SputnikPro World, the BRICS and SCO Student Spring International Festival, the V International Humanitarian Livadia Forum, St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the All-Russian Youth Educational Forum “Tavrida”, the II International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism”, and the III Global Forum of Young Diplomats.

Each shift of the program comprises a unique range of formal and cultural events, developed by Rossotrudnichestvo together with its partners. The schedule usually includes meetings with representatives of Russian scientific and cultural communities, leading news agencies, visits to state bodies and public organizations, as well as a rich sightseeing program. This way the participants get a chance to learn more about Russian cultural heritage.

During their visit to Russia, young leaders from abroad see Russia from different angles (from politics to science) and work on their own ideas for the development of cooperation between Russia and the states they represent. They get an opportunity to not only see a new country from a tourist bus but also meet and establish contacts with high-level policymakers in the State Duma, the Federation Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as representatives of the leading universities, news agencies and public organizations.

Keep calm & stay home

Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, Rossotrudnichestvo launched a special online project "PUBLIC DIPLOMACY - beyond the quarantine". Even though the COVID-19 outbreak has temporarily closed state borders, international cooperation within the program continues. The new project aims to develop contacts between Russian and foreign partners, experts, “New Generation” alumni and all foreign citizens who are open to communication. Everyone can participate in a range of online conferences, webinars and lectures organized in English and Russian within the project.

We’ll keep you informed on the dates of our 2020 offline events in Russia which will be held once the pandemic and self-isolation regime are over.
