Gal. 2:16-20; Lk. 8:5-15

By thorns which choke the word of God, in addition to "‘cares, riches and pleasures of this life" [Lk. 8:14], at the present time we have to mean various false teachings. Such teachings which come from the scholars who have lost both the truth and the ability to search for the truth are spreading profusely these days; some openly raise voices against the truth, other make only hints which affect weak souls at whom they are aimed.

Basically, they work like carbon monoxide poisoning, common in poor village houses: inhaled undetected, they intoxicate the soul, impair reasoning and make one blind to the surrounding reality. Under the influence of this poison, unable to see things as they really are, man becomes delirious like a lunatic. When you talk to him, you realize not only that any kind of truth is suppressed in his head, but also mere sense of truth is effectively muffled and every joint of his mind is permeated by delusion.

Is there a way out? Yes, there is: do not read, do not listen to that nonsense. And should it by chance break into your mind and stay there against your will, subject it to sober, careful scrutiny; then it will vanish like a puff of smoke.
