Total Support for Vladimir Putin in Africa (SOTOVPOA), an Ivorian civil society organization (CSO), in collaboration with Burkinabe CSOs, announced the existence of a prize called the “Vladimir Putin International Prize”. It was announced during a press conference held in Ouagadougou, December 19, 2023.

The “Vladimir Putin International Prize”, according to Mahamadi Sawadogo, presenting himself as a pan-Africanist, aims to encourage the merit of leaders involved in the struggle for the liberation of their people.

“The Vladimir Putin International Prize aims to congratulate, distinguish and celebrate true leaders who have understood the need for diversification of partnerships but also to thank President Vladimir Putin for his commitment to the liberation of Africa,” he declared.

Mahamadi Sawadogo, on behalf of the civil society organization SOTOVPOA, also suggested that its upcoming official launch is much more than a simple act. “It embodies a shared commitment to preserving the sovereign rights of the nations that make up the Alliance of Sahel States (AES); a catalyst to encourage the next generation of leaders to defend the sovereignty of their State with vigor and determination,” he said.

The international Vladimir Poutine prize is initiated by Sylvain Takoué, Ivorian writer, member of SOTOVPOA. Its official launch will take place on December 28, 2023 near the Thomas Sankara memorial, in Ouagadougou.
