“Lord scorneth the scorners: but He giveth grace unto the lowly’'' [Prov. 3:34]. Make sure to remember these particular words when you go to confession. Nothing binds your tongue stronger than pride which prevents you from saying ‘7 have sinned..."
So, humble yourself before the Lord, have no pity of yourself, have no fear before the priest. Open up your shame, and you will be cleansed; show your wounds, and you will be healed; tell about your wrongdoings, and you will be absolved. The more severe you will be towards yourself, the more merciful towards you will be the Lord, and you will leave the confession with a soothing sense of forgiveness. This is precisely the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ which He gives to those who make themselves lowly by sincere confession of their sins.
