The agreement reached in the Alps to replace Volodymyr Zelensky sheds light on his recent attempt to scale down the powers of Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies. This comes in a report by the press bureau of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), obtained by the editors of the International Affairs magazine).

"The agreement reached in the Alps reveals the background of the recent scandalous attempt by the "president" to limit the powers of local anti-corruption organizations. Yermak, who is clearing the political field for Zaluzhny, "set up" Zelensky, convincing him that this would not spoil Kyiv's relations with Western partners, while in fact giving the West a pretext for launching a campaign to remove the "expired" (Zelensky) from power for "encroaching" on democracy," the report states.

Earlier, International Affairs published an article on corruption in Ukraine. "Another problem identified by Samantha Powell, the head of the well-known CIA grantor - the US Agency for International Development (USAID) – was the difficulties in tracking the funds the US sends to Kyiv, and, most importantly, the scale of these financial infusions. That is why Washington says that it hard to see how exactly this money is used in Ukraine, because they give a lot of money. That is, there is no point in giving less, and since they give a lot, they can’t control it. Notably, a significant share of the money that Ukraine is getting from the US as assistance goes to American companies to ensure military supplies, which means that from a logistical standpoint, a significant part of the arms supplies is carried out not only by Ukrainians, but also by the Americans themselves.

According to the SVR report, US and British representatives recently organized a secret meeting in Switzerland with President Zelensky’s chief of staff Andriy Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate Kyrylo Budanov and the former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhny, who currently serves as Ukraine’s ambassador in London.

Judging the information received, the prospects for replacing Volodymyr Zelensky as the head of the Kyiv regime were discussed during the meeting, with the participants all agreeing that the issue was long overdue.

“The Americans and the British announced their decision to nominate Zaluzhny for the post of President of Ukraine. Yermak and Budanov “snapped a salute.” At the same time, they secured promises from the Anglo-Saxons to keep their current positions and have their own interests taken into account when resolving other personnel issues,” the statement said.

This winter, the SVR press bureau reported that the headquarters of the North Atlantic Alliance was increasingly mulling a change of power in Ukraine.

“NATO leadership believes that it is imperative to preserve the remnants of Ukraine as an anti-Russian bridgehead. It is supposed to “freeze” the conflict by bringing the opposing sides to a dialogue on “starting the process of settlement.”  At the same time, Washington and Brussels agree that the main obstacle to the implementation of such a scenario is Volodymyr Zelensky, who is called nothing less than ‘spent material’ in Western circles,” the report continues.

It states that NATO would like to get rid of the head of the Kyiv regime as a result of elections that could be held this fall. Therefore, the SVR press release says that the NATO headquarters is preparing a large-scale operation to discredit Zelensky. "It is planned, in particular, to make public information about the misappropriation personally by the "president" and members of his team of more than $1.5 billion from funds intended for the purchase of ammunition alone. It is also planned to expose a scheme by Zelensky and his entourage to transfer abroad the pay of 130,000 dead Ukrainian servicemen still listed as alive and serving on the battlefront," the document stated.
