- Russian President Vladimir Putin has suggested discussing the establishment of a temporary external administration, under the guidance of the UN and several countries. Amongst them he mentioned BRICS members, the USA and the EU nations who might wish to support it. The aim would be to hold fair elections in the country, since Vladimir Zelensky’s presidential term officially expired in May 2024.
External states should facilitate elections in Ukraine to “establish a capable government that has the trust of the people”, Putin stressed. After that, the new authorities could begin negotiations with Moscow and sign a peace agreement “that would be recognized around the world and will be reliable and stable.”
In his words, Ukraine’s constitutional legitimacy has broken down due to the expiration of Vladimir Zelensky’s presidential term last May and the lack of elections since – rendering all of his government’s claims to authority invalid.
The main goal, according to Putin, would be to organize democratic elections and install a functioning, legitimate government trusted by citizens and recognized globally. He stated that only such leaders could sign peace agreements that would be recognized worldwide.
He mentioned that his new option is just one, because there could be other suggestions.
- Senator Grigory Karasin who is the head of Foreign Relations Committee at the Senate, the upper Chamber of the Russian Parliament, noted that the meeting was open and professional, the two sides debated “quite wide” the range of issues, and admitted that the conversation was constructive, but wasn't especially productive.
In an interview given to the ‘Parliamentary newspaper’ Karasin said that by the end of a full day of negotiations that lasted nearly 12 hours with short intervals, both sides had gotten used to each other and began to speak more directly, without ambiguity.
He said that new meetings between American and Russian delegations in the future are quite possible.

- The Ukrainian military again has attacked Russia’s energy infrastructure in three separate regions, violating a US-mediated moratorium on such strikes, the Defense Ministry in Moscow has announced. The latest incidents took place in Belgorod, Kursk and Saratov Regions of Russia.
It means that since March 18 till March 28, 2025 Kiev has violated ‘energy truce’ eleven times. Russia is still committed to such ceasefire agreement.
More over the attack on the gas station in Sudzha is not only an attack on Russian territory. It is an attack on the interests of Europe. The station is destroyed, and it means that after the conflict in Ukraine will be settled, Europe will not be able to receive gas through the pipeline, which is so necessary for the economy of the European Union. The Kiev junta has inflicted serious damage on Europe's energy sector for the long term.
Food for thought:
By August 1, 2024, there were more than 8,000 criminal cases opened under Article "Collaboration" in Ukraine. If anyone takes into account that there are about 200 criminal cases under this article initiated per month, then it is safe to predict that at the beginning of March 2025 there might be opened totally about 10,000 such cases.
