Russian Ambassador to USA: “In fact, we are facing the danger of a direct clash between the armed forces of Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance in Eastern Europe”

A media question: Dear Ambassador Antonov, how would you comment on the statements by U.S. officials who accused Russia of trying to sow discord among NATO allies by publishing telephone conversations of German military officers?

Anatoly Antonov (photo): Local authorities are once again trying to manipulate public opinion. Speaking of the “leak” of the content of the Bundeswehr officers’ conversation, they reduce everything to accusing us of some kind of “hybrid” and hacker attacks. Thus, they try to divert the discussion from the key point. Namely, the fact that the United States and their NATO satellites are sinking deeper into the quagmire of the “Ukrainian project”. That the discussions casually include options of how to carry out a terrorist attack on civilian infrastructure on the sovereign territory of the Russian Federation.

Until recently, it was impossible to imagine that American and German tanks would be driving on the fields of the country neighboring with Russia. Then, it became obvious to everyone that Western specialists are actively helping Ukrainian armed forces with the maintenance of expensive equipment like Patriots, and with target guidance.

Thus, we can consider this to be a participation of NATO soldiers in military operations. Such a scenario cannot be implemented without Washington’s approval. In fact, we are facing the danger of a direct clash between the armed forces of Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance in Eastern Europe.

In this context, the keynotes from the Address by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the Federal Assembly that our country has at its disposal all sufficient forces and means to repel any NATO member-states’ aggression become increasingly relevant.

I am convinced that farmers in America, Europe and Russia are primarily interested in peaceful life and an opportunity to cultivate their land without fear for the future. But unfortunately, the local “hawks” who are pushing the planet towards a third world war, are indifferent to their aspirations.
