Russian and Chinese defence ministers hold talks by videoconference

Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov held talks with Defence Minister of the People's Republic of China Admiral Dong Jun via videoconference, Department of Information and Media Affairs of Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation informs.

Andrei Belousov stressed that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and China is progressively growing and the cooperation between the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the People's Liberation Army of China is organised at a high level.

'The interaction between the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the People's Liberation Army of China is organised at a high level in the areas of defence and security,' the Russian Defence Minister stated.

'There have been many events since our last meeting in June last year. They had significant impact on the international situation. The situations in Iran and Venezuela require our ministries to organise a continuous analysis of the security situation and the corresponding actions,' the Russian Defence Minister noted.

Andrei Belousov added that a regular exchange of views on military cooperation is required in a dynamic changing global military and political situation.

'I am confident that today's talks will serve to further strengthen of bilateral strategic partnership and allow to discuss current security issues,' the Russian Defence Minister concluded.

In turn, Chinese Defence Minister Admiral Dong Jun noted that videoconferences held at the beginning of the year demonstrates the deep relationship between the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China as well as mutual attention to the development of strategic interaction.

'It's our good tradition to connect at important moments by different assets and channels. I think our contacts and communications are timely and important in the face of a changing international situation,' the Chinese Defence Minister said.

Admiral Dong Jun drew attention to the fact that 'the armed forces of our countries are implementing the important agreements of our heads of the states and have made further progress in the areas of receiving of high delegations, joint exercises, patrolling, and exchange of experience in military occupational specialities.'
