The status of Donbass and Novorossiya cannot be discussed – these territories became part of Russia by the will of their inhabitants, Russian presidential aide Nikolay Patrushev said in an interview with KP.RU, TASS quotes.

"This is not even up for discussion," he said, commenting on the words of some American politicians that Russia will not give up the territories that became part of it under any circumstances. "The territories once ruled by Kiev became part of Russia on the basis of the expression of the will of the people in accordance with international law, the laws of the Russian Federation and the legislation of these regions," he added.

Patrushev believes it is important for the world to recognize the incorporation of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol into the Russian Federation, "which are an integral part of the country in accordance with the Constitution".

The settlement of the situation in Ukraine should be negotiated between Moscow and Washington without other representatives of the West involved, Russian presidential aide Nikolay Patrushev said in an interview with KP.RU.

"Speaking about specific prospects of further developments considering the factor [of US President-elect Donald] Trump, we have respect for his statements. I suggest that the talks on Ukraine should be held between Russia and the US without other Western countries participating. There is nothing to talk about with either London or Brussels," he said.

The EU’s leadership "has long had no right to speak for many its members, such as Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Romania and some other European countries interested in stability in Europe and holding a well-reasoned policy on Russia," Patrushev added.

Nikolay Patrushev does not rule out that Ukraine will cease to exist as a state in 2025.

"The fact that the forced coercion to neo-Nazi ideology and fervent Russophobia eliminate Ukrainian cities that used to flourish, including Kharkov, Odessa, Nikolayev, Dnepropetrovsk, is particularly alarming. It is not ruled out that Ukraine will completely cease to exist this year," he said in an interview with KP.RU.

The Moldovan authorities’ anti-Russia line may result in a situation where the country will cease to exist, Russian presidential aide Nikolay Patrushev said in the interview.

"I do not rule out that Chisinau’s aggressive anti-Russia line will result in a situation where Moldova will either become part of a foreign country or cease to exist," he said.

Within Russia’s global interests the protection and prosperity of its nationals and fellow citizens across the world is the country’s top priority, Patrushev added.

Trump will be assertive in relation to Mexico, Canada, Greenland. "There is no doubt that in all these areas the new administration will very assertively push through its own interests," the presidential aide said.

"US President-elect Donald Trump outlined his interests in relation to Greenland, the Panama Canal, Mexico, and Canada. Redrawing the world map to suit his interests and interfering in the affairs of countries on different continents is an American tradition," Patrushev said.

"There is no doubt that in all these areas the new administration will very assertively push through its own interests," he added.
