Sergey Lavrov: Europeans looking to squeeze themselves into Ukraine talks, nothing new here

Europe is only looking to squeeze itself into the negotiating process on Ukraine, and there is nothing new to its approach, Russia’s top diplomat Sergey Lavrov said, commenting on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s phone call today with the Norwegian and Finnish leaders, TASS quotes.

"Today, President Putin held a phone call with the Norwegian prime minister and the Finnish president at their request. I have not seen the transcript yet but, apparently, no new ideas were voiced," Russia’s top diplomat said at a meeting with editors-in-chief of African media outlets. "This only shows the Europeans’ ambitions to squeeze themselves into the negotiating process," he added. According to Lavrov, "for the time being, we do not see a change in Europe’s approach."
