The address by Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Supreme Leader Khamenei says Iran won’t accept “imposed war”, “peace”, and warns any US strikes on its territory will have “serious irreparable consequences”, Al Jazeera quotes.
Israel says it has struck 40 sites in Iran today, including centrifuge production and weapons facilities, while Iran launched a swarm of drones at Israel.
Iran “will stand firm against an imposed war, just as it will stand firm against an imposed peace”, the supreme leader says in a televised address reported by the Tasnim news agency.
“This nation will not surrender to anyone in the face of imposition.”
Khamenei also pointed to statements made by Trump, saying those who know Iran and its history “know that Iranians do not answer well to the language of threat”.
“And the Americans should know that any US military intervention will undoubtedly be accompanied by irreparable consequences.”
Khamenei: “Israel will be punished for its mistake.”
Iran does not have a nuclear weapon.
Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi said that Iran was not going to make a nuclear weapon.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) saw no evidence that Iran has a nuclear weapons program, IAEA Director General Grossi said.
"I have said that no country in the world is enriching uranium at this level of 60%, which is technically almost equivalent of 90% which is needed to have a nuclear weapon. At the same time, we are inspectors, we are not political analysts or national political officials, so we have to have concrete proof in order to say that there is an active program to make a nuclear weapon, which we have not seen. That does not mean that they are in a territory which is of concern. And this is the reason why there is international concern," Grossi told Bloomberg.
In the interview, Grossi was answering the question on nuclear weapons in Iran. He said: "What we informed and what we reported was that we did not have, as in coincidence with some of the sources you mentioned there, that we did not have any proof of a systematic effort to move into a nuclear weapon"…
Hours after the adoption of the resolution on Thursday, Israel moved to attack Iran’s Natanz and Fordo nuclear sites, assassinate a number of Iranian military commanders, scientists and civilians in early hours of Friday.
