Press release on the Second Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.
On December 19-20, Cairo, Egypt, hosted the Second Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.
A meeting in this format took place on the African continent for the first time. Attendees included foreign ministers and senior representatives from 52 African states, as well as officials from eight regional integration associations.
The highlight of the conference was the plenary session, co-chaired by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty. Opening remarks included greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Participants reviewed key issues on the international agenda and the Russia-Africa partnership, with particular emphasis on the full implementation of the 2023-2026 Action Plan of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, , adopted at the Second Russia-Africa Summit in St Petersburg in 2023. Special attention was given to strengthening trade, economic and investment ties, as well as exploring promising avenues for further cooperation.
The conference concluded with a joint statement reflecting shared approaches to addressing global challenges and a mutual commitment to deepening multidimensional cooperation, with a view to preparing a successful Third Russia-Africa Summit in 2026.
On the sidelines of the conference, Sergey Lavrov held bilateral meetings with African counterparts, and a number of bilateral agreements were signed. A thematic event was also held, involving Russian and African agencies and organisations, aimed at realising the potential of trilateral cooperation between Russia, Egypt and Africa in trade, the economy and education.
