  • Zelensky's so-called ‘peace formula’ is unacceptable, it is an ultimatum and will end with a deliberate failure, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a news conference following a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on 31 August.

There are currently no prospects in sight for Ukraine talks between Moscow and the West as Western sponsors keep pushing Kyiv to raise the stakes, Sergey Lavrov observed in last August in an interview with the International Affairs magazine published by Russian MFA.

“Besides, Western sponsors keep pushing the Kyiv regime to raise the stakes," he emphasized. Lavrov pointed out that Russia viewed "the Westerners’ hypocritical calls for talks" as "a tactical ploy" aimed at once again "buying some time, providing the exhausted Ukrainian forces with an opportunity to have a respite and regroup, and flooding them with more weapons and ammunition." However, it is the path of war, not peaceful settlement; it is perfectly clear to Russia, the minister concluded.

  • The Armed Forces of Ukraine or AFU again attempted to arrange a provocation during the rotation of IAEA inspectors at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (ZNPP), Russian Defense Ministry announced.

According to the Russian MoD, Russian Armed Forces ensured the safe shift change of the IAEA observers at the ZNPP, for which a ceasefire regime was declared between 6AM and 7PM within a kilometer radius from the designated place of the observers' free passage and was fully observed by Russian servicemen. Nevertheless, the AFU used explosive munitions during the rotation of IAEA observers numbering five.

Russian MoD stressed that despite the provocation arranged by the Ukrainian troops, "Russian servicemen were able to ensure the safe passage of the mission's observers and their delivery to the station".

At the beginning of last August, the Ukrainian military tried once again to attack a spent nuclear fuel storage facility at the ZNPP. And once again the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi silenced such obvious fact pretending that he did not know who has done it.

In October 2022, the nuclear plant became Russian property likewise the territory where it is located.

  • The authorities in Poland and the Baltic States should withdraw their military contingents from their territories before demanding that Minsk should pull back the fighters of PMC "Wagner," said President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on August 31.

"There should not be a single foreign serviceman in Poland, Lithuania or other Baltic countries. Then they can make claims to us [Belarus] about the presence of servicemen from other countries here. Meanwhile, these are unreasonable and stupid demands,"  the Belarussian leader outlined.

Recently the heads of the Interior Ministries of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia demanded from Minsk that the group "Wagner" must immediately leave the territory of Belarus.

A part of this group is staying in Belarus as instructors.

  • The recently appointed UK Secretary of State for Defense Grant Shapps pledged to continue London’s support for Ukraine “in the conflict with Russia” though the aggression against Donbass in 2014 and Russia in 2022 initiated unilaterally by Ukraine and NATO but not by Donbass or Russia.

Moscow negatively reacted to his appointment because such statement has been made by a person who represents the country that occupies the second place in terms of supplying deadly weapons to the irrelevant Ukrainian regime after the USA who ranks first.
