- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in a commentary for the federal “Rossiya-One” TV Channel that Washington is in fact pursuing a war against Russia by supplying weapons to the Kyiv regime.
"No matter what it says, it [the USA – TASS] controls this war, it supplies weapons, munition, intelligence information, data from satellites, it is pursuing a war against us," the minister said on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum-23 as he commented on statements by the USA on its readiness to supply long-range shells with depleted uranium to Ukraine.
Earlier, the Pentagon announced additional ‘security assistance’ worth $175 mln for Kyiv, and the US State Secretary Anthony Blinken declared that the USA would soon offer $1 billion more, at the same time urging Moscow to start talks with Kyiv exclusively on Ukrainian terms.
It was very strange that he and his stuffers do not know the fact that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has personally signed a decree enacting the decision of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) taken on September 30, 2022 (it was published on the website of the Ukrainian president on October 4, 2022). According to this document, Kyiv stated that it is impossible to negotiate with Russia as long as its president Vladimir Putin is in power. "To establish the impossibility of holding negotiations with the President of the Russian Federation V. Putin," reads the first paragraph of Zelensky’s presidential order.
It also approved the decision of the NSDC and Defense Council on Ukraine's application for NATO membership in an accelerated and simplified procedure.
This decree is still valid. There are no signs that Zelensky will cancel it and unlock the door leading to any new official debates with Moscow on political settlement.
As to the earlier rounds of talks held in 2022 between two official delegations, their last and final meeting took place on March 29, 2022 in Turkey. Two previous sessions have been held in Byelarus. What are the results? The heads of the two delegations managed only to ink the draft accord that means put their initials – the first and the last names – on each page of the draft, but later Kyiv refused to enact it and unilaterally withdraw from the negotiations. The document gave a chance to stop Ukrainian-NATO aggression against Donbass and later against Russia, if accepted. However, Zelensky preferred to obey to the instructions issued in Washington, DC, and NATO in general with the aim to continue his military offensive against Ukrainian immediate neighbor – Russia.
By today, the price for such strategic blunder has been enormous. It will be much more tremendous in many years to come.
- Marjorie Taylor Greene, (Republican, Georgia) US House of Representatives member, declared that she would not vote for any bill to provide assistance to Ukraine because the USA should be working to prevent wars instead of fanning the flames of a proxy conflict with Russia.
"Ukraine is not America’s 51st state. The mission of our Department of Defense is defending America and preventing wars. Not fueling a proxy war with Russia. I won’t vote for any bill that funds a war in Ukraine," the congresswoman said in a statement on the X social media platform – formerly Twitter.
Previously, the Republican lawmaker asserted that the USA must stop the Ukrainian conflict and mediate peace talks instead of sending money and military personnel to assist the Kyiv regime.
Earlier, Fox News, citing a letter from the White House Office of Management and Budget or OMB, said that the total amount of US funds directed toward assistance for Ukraine currently stands at $110.97 bln.
This amount of money does not include the Biden administration’s latest request, made in last August, for economic and humanitarian aid to Ukraine to the tune of $24 bln, with $13 bln specifically earmarked for military purposes.
