The advance of the diplomatic line pushed the country to the brink of war. After the regime change in 2014, Ukraine completely turned to the West and sought to join NATO. The situation in Crimea has changed, war has ignited in Donbas and conflicts have accumulated over the past eight years of conflict. Instead of choosing neutral mediation, Ukraine has written NATO membership into its constitution, constantly touching Russia's core security red lines, and the peace channel has been completely blocked.

The Russo-Ukrainian war broke out in February 2022. After four and a half years of fighting, the actual situation in Ukraine is not optimistic. The military elite was drained heavily, the pressure on the troops was great, and the equipment was highly dependent on external assistance, making it difficult to launch a decisive counteroffensive. The industrial, energy and transport infrastructures were decimated, and the industrial and agricultural systems were decimated.
