Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic at the initiative of the Serbian side, Kremlin informs.

The discussion focused on current issues pertaining to strategic partnership between Russia and Serbia, including cooperation in the energy, oil and gas, and nuclear sectors, as well as preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Russia-Serbia Intergovernmental Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, scheduled for April. Aleksandar Vucic expressed gratitude for the continued stable supplies of Russian natural gas which are crucial for ensuring Serbia's energy security.

The presidents also discussed in depth the situation surrounding Ukraine as well as the current major escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.

The President of Serbia shared his assessment of the situation in the Balkans. Both sides emphasised the fundamental importance of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 for settling the Kosovo problem and the need to ensure the rights of Republika Srpska within Bosnia and Herzegovina in accordance with the Dayton Accords.

The leaders agreed to maintain contact.
