Col. 4:10-18; Lk. 10:1:15
In the future life should we expect the same degree of condescension to nonbelievers as He has shown here on earth? Hardly so. Sending the Seventy to preach, He commands to tell those who do not receive them: "Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the Kingdom of God is come nigh unto you" [Lk. 10:11], that is to say, we don't need anything from you; we preach not for any kind of profit, but only to proclaim to you peace and the Kingdom of God. If you don’t need it — that is your choice; we are going elsewhere.
That’s the commandment for the present time: and what about the future? "I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city" [Lk. 10:12]. Thus, unbelievers have no reason to comfort themselves with Lord’s condescension. Their license is limited to the earth; after death, the sword of inevitable God’s wrath will come crushing upon their heads.
What a horrible lot for unbelievers! Their life on earth is gloomy and joyless, for without God. without Lord Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer, there is scarcely any true joy on earth, and what follows next is totally beyond description and human imagination. One would surely choose to disappear altogether, but even that wouldn't be an option.
