Peskov outlines conditions for Putin’s meeting with Zelensky

A meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents requires substantial preparatory work, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. “A great deal of preliminary work needs to be done before the two presidents can agree on what has been achieved so far,” Peskov was quoted as saying by TASS.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that Zelensky wants to use his meeting with Putin to “reiterate” his legitimacy. “Because [Zelensky - Ed.] wants to reaffirm his legitimate status not through a legal procedure, but by any other means possible,” Zakharova noted. She emphasized that Zelensky also fears that he will no longer been needed by the West, would be forgotten and discarded.
