Russian Defence Minister: “The strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China has reached an unprecedented high level”

Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov held talks with Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China General Zhang Shengmin as part of a working visit to the People's Republic of China.

'The strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China has reached an unprecedented high level,' said Andrei Belousov.

The Russian Defence Minister noted that the partnership between the two countries is based on personal contacts between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

'I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your election as a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China,' the Russian Defence Minister said.

In his turn, General Zhang Shengmin also noted that in recent years the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the President of the Chinese People's Republic Xi Jinping have met many times.

'The heads of our states have outlined new strategic directions for the development of China-Russia relations. And today's meeting is a practical step towards implementing the important agreements reached by the heads of our states,' he stressed.

The Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China expressed confidence in the further development of friendship and cooperation between the armed forces of China and Russia.
